Cell Plus Therapy (CPT)
Not everyone with thinning hair needs a transplant, and not everyone is suited to one. When hair is thinning across the top or the crown, the follicles are usually still there, but they've miniaturised, so the hairs they grow come through finer and weaker.
Cell Plus Therapy is a hair loss treatment in Bangkok using progenitor cells from your own scalp. It's a minor procedure under local anaesthetic. We take a few tiny samples from the back of your scalp with an FUE punch, process them in the Rigenera EVO device from Italy into an injectable micrograft solution, and inject it into the thinning areas. It uses only your own tissue, and one treatment usually lasts 1 to 2 years.
Rigenera EVO: Thai FDA registration no. [pending]

- About 1 to 1.5 hours
- Tiny samples, taken with a 0.8 to 0.9 mm punch
- One treatment, repeated every 1 to 2 years
- Results build gradually over 6 to 9 months
Is CPT right for you?
It suits you if:
- Your hair is thinning evenly across the top, the mid-scalp or the crown
- Your hair has become thin or fragile
- A hair transplant isn't right for you, for example because your donor area is limited
- You'd prefer a treatment that doesn't rely on daily medication
It isn't for you if:
- The area is already bald. CPT works on follicles that are still there, so a transplant is the option for bald areas.
- You have an active scalp infection or skin condition. That needs treating first.
We check all of this at your consultation. If CPT isn't likely to help, we'll tell you, and explain what might.
Compare treatments for thinning hair
All four work on hair that's thinning but still growing. They're often combined.

| Sessions | 3 to 5, 4 to 6 weeks apart, then maintenance | One treatment, often repeated every 1 to 2 years | Regular sessions | Every 2 weeks |
| Time per session | 30 to 45 minutes | About 1 to 1.5 hours | 15 to 20 minutes | About 30 minutes |
| Best for | Early to moderate thinning, men and women | Thinning areas where follicles remain | Everyone with thinning hair, often alongside other treatment | People based in Thailand |

On the day
Assessment
Your doctor checks the thinning areas and plans where the treatment will go.
Local anaesthetic
We numb a small area at the back of your head.
Samples
Your doctor takes a few tiny samples with a 0.8 to 0.9 mm FUE punch, so no stitches are needed. This can be done within a very small shaved patch, or with a long-hair technique so nothing is shaved. You'll decide this with your doctor.
Processing
The samples are processed in the Rigenera EVO device into around 10 to 15 cc of injectable solution, containing progenitor cells, growth factors and supporting tissue from your own scalp.
Injection
Your doctor injects the solution into the thinning areas.
Done
You can go back to your day afterwards. We'll see you the next day for a quick wound check.
The whole treatment takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Results
CPT works gradually, with results building over 6 to 9 months. Results vary from person to person.
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| The next day | Come back to the clinic for a quick wound check. |
| First 1 to 2 weeks | The tiny sample spots at the back heal. |
| Months 3 to 6 | Hair starts to look thicker and denser. |
| Months 6 to 9 | The fullest result, for those who respond. |
| After that | The result usually lasts 1 to 2 years. A repeat treatment helps keep it. |
Your doctor reviews your progress and may suggest combining CPT with GFC, LLLT or medication.
Patient results
Our own patients, treated and photographed at our clinic with their consent. Every result depends on the patient's own hair and how it responds.
Price
CPT has one fixed price per treatment. It works well alongside a hair transplant, GFC or LLLT, and when you have them as part of one plan, we price them together as a combined package. Ask us about both at your free online consultation.
Every CPT treatment includes:
- LLLT red-light laser sessions at the clinic, every 2 weeks for up to 6 months
- A topical hair loss treatment for a year
- Your post-treatment medication and wound care
- A wound check at the clinic the day after

How Cell Plus Therapy works
What is Autologous Micrografting?
Autologous Micrografting (AMT) means taking the patient's own tissue (autologous), preparing it into very small particles (micrografts), and injecting it back into the area that needs to recover.
What's in the sample?
The tiny samples come from the back of your head, where hair is strongest. Each one holds skin, fat and hair follicle cells. Once processed, they give a solution rich in progenitor cells, growth factors and extracellular matrix from your own scalp, the building blocks that help weak follicles recover.
What the device does
The Rigenera EVO device, developed in Italy, breaks the samples down mechanically in under two minutes into autologous micrografts: a fine solution ready to inject. The method is known as Autologous Micrografting (AMT), the technology behind the Regenera Activa procedure. No chemicals or enzymes are used, and nothing from outside your body is added to the treatment itself.
How we take the samples
The standard Regenera Activa protocol takes a few 2.5 mm punch samples, usually from behind the ear, which can need stitches. We take ours with a 0.8 to 0.9 mm FUE punch, the same instrument we use every day for hair transplants. No stitches are needed, each spot heals as a tiny dot hidden in your hair, and we still collect around 10 to 15 cc of injectable solution.
How CPT differs from GFC
GFC uses growth factors concentrated from your blood. CPT uses tissue from your scalp. They work in different ways, so some people have both.
What the evidence says
Research on this approach is still growing, and the studies so far are smaller than those for PRP. They mostly involve early to moderate pattern hair loss, and report improvements in hair density and thickness. Some patients see a clear change, and others respond less. That's why your doctor reviews your progress, rather than promising a set outcome.
Before your treatment
- Tell us about every medication, supplement and allergy.
- Tell us if you take any medication or supplement that affects blood clotting, such as aspirin, vitamin E or fish oil. Your doctor will advise whether to stop it. Don't stop any prescribed medication without checking with us first.
- Avoid alcohol for a week before.
- Stop or cut down smoking in the days before.
- Drink plenty of water the day before and on the day.
- Wash your hair well on the day.
After your treatment
- Come back the next day for a quick wound check at the clinic.
- Keep the small sample spots at the back clean, and don't pick at them.
- Don't use hair products for at least 6 hours.
- Avoid swimming, saunas and steam rooms for 2 days.
- Avoid alcohol, smoking and caffeine for 3 days.
Normal healing
These side effects are part of normal healing and usually settle within a few days:
- Tenderness at the back of the head and where the injections went in
- Slight redness or swelling on the scalp
- Tiny scabs on the sample spots, which fall off on their own
- A mild headache on the day
Contact us straight away if you have severe pain, swelling that keeps getting worse, or signs of infection such as heat or discharge.
Why Bangkok Hair Clinic for CPT
Treating thinning hair successfully starts with the right diagnosis and ongoing follow-up. At Bangkok Hair Clinic, a doctor looks after you from your first consultation to the end of your treatment.
- A doctor does every step. Your doctor takes the samples and injects the treatment.
- Very small samples. We use a 0.8 to 0.9 mm FUE punch, so no stitches are needed and each sample spot is tiny.
- Nothing to show at the back. The samples can be taken within a very small shaved patch, or with a long-hair technique so nothing is shaved.
- Part of a wider plan. CPT can be combined with GFC, LLLT or medication, and your doctor reviews your progress.
- Honest about what it can do. CPT supports hair that's still growing. If an area is already bald, we'll tell you.
Cell Plus Therapy questions
No. A transplant moves hair follicles to a new area. CPT uses a few tiny samples of your scalp to support the hair that's already there.
CPT uses the same Rigenera EVO device from Italy. The difference is how we take the samples: with a small FUE punch, so no stitches are needed.
PRP or GFC injections use growth factors concentrated from your blood. CPT uses tissue from your scalp, which contains progenitor cells, growth factors and extracellular matrix. PRP usually needs a course of several sessions, while CPT is usually done once and repeated every 1 to 2 years.
The local anaesthetic stings briefly. After that, most people feel pressure rather than pain, and some tenderness for a few days.
Usually one, repeated every 1 to 2 years to keep the result.
Results build gradually over 6 to 9 months. Results vary from person to person.
The sample spots are tiny, under a millimetre, and need no stitches. Your hair usually covers them.
No. The samples can be taken within a very small shaved patch, or with a long-hair technique so nothing is shaved. You'll decide this with your doctor.
Yes. CPT is often combined with GFC, LLLT or medication. If you're having a transplant, your doctor will advise whether CPT would help the hair around it.
Yes. We treat female hair loss with medication, GFC, CPT, laser treatments or, in some cases, a hair transplant. Female hair loss is more complex, so speak to a doctor about your options.
Very little. You can go back to your day afterwards, and we'll see you the next day for a quick wound check. Just avoid hair products for 6 hours, and swimming or saunas for 2 days.
One fixed price per treatment. When CPT is part of a plan with a hair transplant, GFC or LLLT, we price them together as a combined package. Ask us at your free online consultation.
Ask if CPT suits you
